As far as events go, this is quite the opposite of what Clearly Classy Events deals with on a day to day basis. Not only is this a Street Festival with many entertainment acts, vendor booths and sponsors, this is also a very cultural event honoring the dead. Dia de los Muertos translated means Day of the Dead. This holiday typically celebrated on the 2nd of November is a way for friends and families to pay their respects to the people that have passed on.
Clearly Classy was hired two years ago to begin this tradition as a gift from the Old Town Gift Emporium for their grand opening celebration. While OTGE is no longer around the tradition has held on. Thanks to the generous sponsorships of Seton Medical Center Hays, the Kyle Chamber of Commerce, Austin Community College, San Marcos Hispanic Chamber, Mayor Lucy Johnson and the Johnson Family this wonderful cultural event will live on to see another day!
We are so lucky to have the Hays All District Mariachi as well as the Ballet Folklorico Tonantzin, Lockhart perform for us. Conjunto Romo had their awesome band out that day and had their CD release party at the event to add to the fun! The Blanco Vista children always put on a show for us and they didn't fail this year, in masks and cloaks that walk the street singing songs of the dead! Enjoy some pictures from the day!
