I wanted a place that I could talk about all of the things I do for work and life. Crazy things come my direction and I deal with so many personalities and issues that I just need to get it all out. Certainly there isn't a friend or a family member that I could ask to listen to ALL of my stories, so this way if they would like to read them they can, if not, no harm no foul. Either way I get them out of my system and on to paper where they belong.
Maybe not to all, but I think I have a pretty interesting life as an Event Planner, I see and hear some of the craziest things, I think it's important to document these stories. I get so many comments when I'm working (at least one every time I work), mostly from women..."what a great job", "I've always wanted to do this", "How did you get started"...Just last night, a sweet lady from New York of all places approaches me as I am watching the couple dance, she asked me how I got started. This is sort of a complicated story so I try and keep it short and sweet.
I have been planning "events" since I can remember. Any excuse, birthday parties, club meetings (I was really young when I planned these, uniforms, invitations and all!!), high school parties, weddings, EVERYTHING!! I loved it, anytime anyone would ask for help on something, I could not resist the urge to throw in my two cents...My husband started asking, "Why aren't you charging people for this?" Great question!! I have no idea. So fast forward, I am elected to the Board of Directors to the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce, this kicks the door wide open for me. They need help planning events, first a golf tournament (www.kyleannualclassic.com) then the annual gala, now referred to as the KACC Roaring 20's Awards Gala. Finally I have the resume to charge. I hooked up with the right people from my network and voila! Two years later we call ourselves Clearly Classy Events (www.clearlyclassyevents.com)
In the last two years I have had a hand in planning over 30 events. Everything from Street Festivals, Weddings, Golf Tournaments to Reunions. Full service, I have my main players Erin, Kathryne and Laura. Dottie helps us out from time to time. An incredible run so far, I am so thrilled to see what the future holds.
I am really looking forward to sharing my exciting experiences. All the while going through giving birth to my second child Audrey, Madeline 4 1/2 is my oldest. More to come soon about last nights wedding and some other fun bits from past events.
